What Happens if Cybersecurity Isn't for Me?

Apr 12, 2023

Starting a new career can be daunting, especially if you're not sure if it's the right fit for you. That's why we designed the Day0 Cybersecurity Fundamentals program to be the perfect starting point for anyone considering a career in cybersecurity. It’s natural to think that everything will be smooth sailing once you get started, but what if you complete the program and discover that cybersecurity isn't for you?

Don't worry, it's not the end of the world!

In fact, discovering that you don't like cybersecurity after completing the Day0 program can be a good thing. Here's why:

  1. You've saved time and money: Pursuing a career in cybersecurity requires a significant investment of time and money. If you've completed the Day0 program and decided that cybersecurity isn't for you, you've saved yourself from spending tens of thousands of dollars and potentially years working towards something you don't enjoy.
  2. You've gained valuable knowledge: The Day0 program provides a solid foundation in basic technology and computing fundamentals, which are valuable skills in many different industries. Even if you decide not to pursue a career in cybersecurity, this knowledge will help you be more successful in a variety of other careers you may decide to pursue instead.
  3. You're one step closer to finding the right career for you: It's important to remember that finding the right career path is a journey, and sometimes it takes a few detours to get there. Completing the Day0 program and discovering that cybersecurity isn't for you is just one step on that journey. It's better to have tried and discovered it's not for you than to never try and wonder "what if?"

So, what should you do if you complete the Day0 program and decide that cybersecurity isn't for you? The answer is simple: keep exploring. Use the knowledge you've gained in the program to explore other technology-related fields, such as data analysis, project management, or software development. Or, explore completely different fields that interest you.

Remember, the Day0 program is just the beginning of your journey towards a new career. If you discover that cybersecurity isn't for you, don't give up. Keep exploring, keep learning, and keep working towards finding the right career for you.
